The Greater Gwinnett Baseball League (GGBL) Scholarship Award, established in 2009, is available to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to a University, College, Technical School or similar institution of higher education to pursue a degree. The applicant must have participated in the GGBL for a minimum of three years between the ages of 9 to 14. However, participation in baseball beyond the GGBL league play is not required. Participation in baseball or any athletic sport in high school or college is not a requirement to be considered for the GGBL scholarship award. The one-time scholarship award is paid directly to the student and is intended to assist with expenses such as books and tuition. It is the responsibility of any recipient to disclose acceptance of the award to the institution’s financial aid office and determine the potential impact of the award on the student’s eligibility for other scholarships and/or financial aid. GGBL, its Executive Board, Scholarship Committee, members, association parks, sponsors or affiliates are not responsible for any impact the GGBL scholarship award may have on the student’s eligibility for other scholarships or financial aid. The amount and number of scholarship awards is determined solely at the discretion of the GGBL Executive Board, but typically range from $500 to $1000. The GGBL Executive Board in coordination with the Scholarship Chairman shall have the discretion to determine additional criteria such as academic standing, submission of a personal statement, etc. when the number of applicants exceeds the number of available awards for any given year. The GGBL is neither affiliated with, endorses, nor accepts any financial support from any college, university, university athletic program, or booster association.
